The upcoming Apple tablet computer could have a downside for app developers, Forbes says. The problem? Inconsistency in term of developing app –especially related to the screen size and resolution of these devices.

Apple rolls out a tablet computer, it could make building applications for its portable devices more complex. That’s because developers–who have built more than 65,000 applications for the iPhone and iPod touch–say one of the big advantages to developing apps for these devices is consistency.

our app would be a great fit. Flip N Drink and iWhiskey. I could see it being used as an ordering device at a bar or restaurant. Flip through the choices, tap to order, slide your credit card and your order is called up. The problem is that we will have to reformat all of the images to fit the new iTab, or iPad, or whatever they call it. More opportunity, more competition, bigger market.

i think apple is taking on all gaming systems - movie players and music players all the same. They want to create a device that does the lot. Potentially this could be the most important piece of technology to be released and will set new standards in many different aspects of technology

I wonder if they would use the same app store? couldn't games be used like the iPhone?

I think potentially - it could hurt the 'gameboy' styled portable gaming systems if it combines game, touch, movie as well and computer aspects. Cant wait for it to be released.
  • i don't think it'll be a big issue... I'm sure Apple have a brilliant solution.
