Apple tablet launch brought forward

The Apple tablet’s suffered all sorts of leaks from the West this last week, but now it’s the turn of the other hemisphere to start outing it, and those in the know are claiming it’s due out a whole lot sooner than previously expected. We’ve heard all sorts of whispers of a Mac tablet being prepped for Christmas or early 2010 from the likes of AppleInsider and even the Financial Times, but market sources in Taiwan have just slapped them all down as wrong: the 3G-connected Apple tablet will be ready by September, not Christmas.

According to Taiwanese paper Apple Daily, partners are already in place to lash the Apple tablet together, including flat panel producer Wintek and computer cobbler Hon Hai. Hon Hai is otherwise known as Foxconn, the company that hit the headlines after one of its engineers committed suicide recently after losing an iPhone prototype. The market sources claim the Apple tablet will be a 10-inch enlarged iPod, but what’s interesting here is that this isn’t a translator confusing the iPod touch with an Apple tablet: the report goes on to correct “foreign media” reports that the Apple tablet won’t be out until next year.
