iPad OS Reveals Support for Video Calling, File Downloads

The iPad OS (iPhone OS 3.2) contains hooks to accept and decline video conference, flip a video feed (suggests front facing camera), and view video calls in fullscreen or partial screen, reports Engadget. Partially screen video calls would suggest some type of multitasking; however, none of these features will be present in the first version of the device since it doesn’t have a camera, a hardware feature which may have been removed last minute. Chpwn has also confirmed that iPhone OS 3.2 supports file downloads, local storage in the browser, and rudimentary SMS support. There is even some inklings of actual phone support, a spellchecker, and it appears that the new landscape orientation for the homescreen and keyboard support are headed to the iPhone. As previously reported, it seems as though the iPhone OS 3.2 is an unfinished product possibly just released so developers can begin porting their applications. Its very probable that we see OS 4.0 just before or soon after the iPad ships.
