With Twitter’s Official App Looming, Seesmic Revamps on Android
In the wake of last week’s Chirp conference for third-party Twitter app developers, popular multi-platform client Seesmic is announcing upgrades to its Android application. Changes include a widget, geotagging and native retweet support.
However, last week at the conference, Twitter execs announced the company would be rolling out its own native application for the Android platform. In a recent interview with Mashable’s Ben Parr, Seesmic founder Loic Le Meur said that he was initially concerned about the difficulty of competing with “official” apps from Twitter. “We have one of the best Android apps. [Twitter's announcement] was bad news. I think we can differentiate with multiple services support… hundreds of services should be integrated soon.”
