AppAdvice report: TowerMadness HD, the highly anticipated iPad-optimized version of Limbic Software’s hit tower defense game, is now available in the App Store. TowerMadness HD features all-new high definition 3D graphics so you can zoom in on the action and get a better idea of how to defend your sheep from the evil aliens who want nothing more than to snatch them from you.

The game also features eight new maps in addition to the ones included in the iPhone version, a new campaign progression system, survival mode, global leaderboards, and local multiplayer. Local multiplayer is a neat addition to the game, as it puts the iPad’s much larger screen to good use by allowing you to play side-by-side on the same device with a friend. Both of you will be fighting the same waves of enemies, and whoever is left standing at the end wins the game. You can deploy two new multiplayer-specific features in order to get a leg-up on your opponent, but it all comes at a cost, so plan wisely.

TowerMadness HD for iPad is now available for $7.99. If you had purchased any in-app content in the iPhone version of the game, you can bring it over to the iPad version for free by going to “Options” and tapping on “Restore In App Purchases” and then entering your information. It’s definitely a nice gesture by the developer.
